S.V. Govt. School of Art and Craft, Jeypore
The crest of the S.V. Govt. School of Art and Crafts, Jeypore, depicts the rich cultural and art loving History of the then Maharaja of Jeypore. The S.V. Govt. School of Art and Craft was established on dated 17/6/1946 by the Maharaja Late Sri Sri Sri Vikram Dev Verma after which the school is named. After abolition of estates the institution remained under the Cultural Revenue Department, Jeypore since 1946 to 1952 on dated 27/05/1969. The Dept. of Culture took over the charge of the institution with all the liabilities and assets.
The District of Koraput is known to people as a cultural hub and famous for its rich tribal culture from the days of the erstwhile Maharaja of Jeypore, Sri Sri Sri Vikram Dev Verma. In this context the S.V. Govt. School of Art & Crafts, Jeypore of District Koraput holds the responsibility of enhancing and imparting fine art education in Southern Odisha to boost the fine art education among the people of Southern Odisha as well as to keep alive the tribal art, craft and ethnic art in addition making the art and sculpture education as a source of livelihood.
The seats of the school in a class is 20 the working hour of the institution is 10am to 4 pm, duration of the course is 4 years B.V.A. Course. But in this institution Two years Course +2 Vocational Course has been provided. It is affiliated under the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Bhubaneswar, Odisha since from 1991. The students are awarded Rs. 200/- per Month after taking admission 50% of the students are enjoying the same. The SC and ST students are also provided scholarship from the Tribal Department, Govt. of Odisha each year. The minimum qualification to take admission in the course is to pass 10 +. The school follows the syllabus prescribed by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
